PROJECT INITIATIVES
EQUALITAD believes that African women represent an underutilized human resource in rural communities, and could be a key functional group in alleviating many of the health issues faced by rural Africans. Although they occupy an essential cohesive role, many of these women are almost wholly occupied with tending to children who are sick with preventable diseases. It is our hope that with the institution of sustainable, long term strategies to deliver education, clean water, adequate sanitation, and mosquito netting to minimize the spread of malaria, much of this preventable illness will be greatly diminished. African women will then be free not only to perform their essential roles, but also for health and midwife education programs that will make them instrumental in the ongoing health of these communities.
These programs will be supported by education initiatives and scholarships aimed at raising health awareness in rural African communities, so that alleviation from disease and the poverty can be perpetuated through greatly improved health awareness.
